THE ULTIMATE BOSTON TOUR

Come aboard the Bigly Bus to experience the amazing sights and sounds of historic Boston and Quincy, the “City of Presidents.” Begin your adventure by relaxing on a cushioned seat to enjoy the experience of “super clear glass” picture windows, and escape the noise, dust, heat (or cold) and hustle and bustle of our vibrant city. Your experienced guide will escort you to sites not offered by most other tour companies. Take in the breathtaking panoramic view of the coastline, then you are off to Quincy to see the homesteads of John and Abigail Adams and their son, John Quincy Adams. Reflect on the historic contributions these Americans made to the birth of a new nation. Reflect upon their true grit before the Church of the Presidents where they rest in peace. Admire the statue honoring another local, John Hancock, the patrician rebel who played a critical role in drafting the Declaration of Independence.

Returning to Boston and its booming Seaport District, take a tour of a local brewery to learn about the role of beer brewing during colonial times. Enjoy an oversized pretzel or pizza at the Harpoon Brewery beer garden. Or enjoy a lobster roll or fish ‘n chips at Yankee Lobster, a commercial lobster pound whose roots go back to the 1950s. After a hearty lunch, move on for a tour encompassing Chinatown, Boston Common, the Public Garden, Cheers, Copley Square, Trinity Church, and the Copley Place & Prudential mall complex. Snap a photo of the iconic six-hundred-foot-long reflecting pool designed by renowned architect Araldo Cossutta of I.M. Pei and Associates. Proceeding to the “fens” (part of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace of green space), stop at Fenway Park, America’s oldest major league baseball stadium (1912), home of the Boston Red Sox. Pose for a photo in front of the “Teammates” sculpture depicting the Splendid Splinter Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr, Johnny Pesky, and Dom DiMaggio before heading down Boylston Street and over the finish line of the Boston Marathon, the “oldest new” marathon in the world. Passing the Public Garden, Swan Boats, and Make Way for Ducklings sculpture, climbing up Beacon Hill, you will pass stunning 1800s brownstone mansions and the “new” State House (1795) with its famous gold dome. Across the street is the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial dedicated to the African American Massachusetts 54th Regiment depicted in the Civil War movie Glory.

Going down Beacon Hill, some of the other attractions your guide will point out include the King’s Chapel (1754) where Red Coats once worshiped, the birthplace of Benjamin Franklin, Financial District, Old State House (1713), site of the Boston Massacre of 1770, Faneuil Hall, dubbed the “Cradle of Liberty”, Quincy Marketplace and Little Italy.

Crossing the inner harbor to Charlestown and passing the Bunker Hill Monument commemorating that historic battle of June 17, 1775, the next stop is the Charlestown Navy Yard. A highlight of the day will be an escorted tour around the decks of the mighty U.S.S. Constitution, the oldest active warship in the world, replete with canon and sail. She was launched in 1797. In the War of 1812, this heavy frigate saw lots of action and would defeat five Royal Navy warships, earning the nickname “Old Ironsides.” After a truly Bigly day, your guide will return you to your hotel or pickup location, carrying fond memories to last a lifetime.
